The Rezidor Hotel Group was one of the first international hotel groups to join the United Nations' Global Compact - the world's largest corporate citizenship initiative -in late 2008. This voluntary strategic policy initiative is for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Our longstanding Responsible Business programme means we are well-prepared to contribute to this worthy initiative and we look forward to learning from our fellow participants so that we might improve even further.
We have recently reinforced this commitment by endorsing the United Nations Global Compact "Caring for Climate" initiative for urgent and extensive action on the parts of governments, business and citizens on climate change. By signing "Caring for Climate", Rezidor reinforces its commitment to the further development of corporate strategies and practices to reduce carbon emissions.
As a result of our leadership in the area of Responsible Business, the United Nations Global Compact and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invited Rezidor to participate in a television series looking at some of the most pressing global challenges including the water crisis, climate change and extreme poverty. It highlights companies around the world with outstanding corporate responsibility initiatives, shows business and development working hand-in-hand, and also demonstrates how small ideas can make big differences in our lives.
